Why You Should Vote

1. So you can complain.
If you are eligible to vote, but choose not to, then you have no right to bellyache about the direction the country goes.

2. It's your right.
Young people, women and underrepresented groups all fought hard for the right to vote. And even today there are countries where people are still dying for the right to vote. Just January 30, 2005 an estimated 8 million Iraqi people braved violence and calls for a boycott in order to cast their ballots for the first time in 50 years.
3. Representation.
The people that you elect represent you in government affairs. For example, if you are not a fan of high taxation then you shouldn't vote for someone with a track record of creating government programs that raise taxes.
4. Fashion.
You get to wear an "I Voted" sticker -- definitely fashionable.

5. More federal money...
for college campuses, national defense, the environment, HIV/AIDS, or breast cancer research…whatever your cause! Where do the candidates stand on your issue? Find out and make sure your concerns are their concerns.

6. To cancel out someone else's vote.
Whether it's your Dad, your Mom, your professor, or your next door neighbor -- you probably know someone who is going to vote the opposite of you.
7. To bust the stereotype!
"Young people are lazy, they don't care, they won't vote." That's what they say. Let's prove them wrong.
8. Every vote counts.
The 2000 Presidential election proved how close things can get, so really every vote counts.

9. To keep power for yourself.
When you don’t vote, you give everyone else more power.  For instance, if you and 3 other people were eating pie, and you decided you no longer wanted a piece, now they get each get a bigger piece (1/3 of the pie) than before (1/4 of the pie). Keep your piece of the pie!

10. Because the 2004 election map is a beautiful thing!
That red covering the United States is conservative domination! However, don't get lazy and think it will continue to look this way without your participation. We want to ensure that the map never changes to blue!
